TORII GATE ( 鳥居）

 

Torii is the symbol of the Shintoism.
　Whenever you see the 2 pillars and the 2 bars combined,
that is called Torii gate.　It is located in front of the
Shinto shrine.　Since  we human beings are surrounded by the
 evil spirits, we are supposed to purify ourselves mentally
 by going through this Torii　gate, then we  go to the sacred
 place.

 

訳：鳥居は神道のシンボルです。二本の柱と二本の横木がが組み合わ
されているのを見たら、それは鳥居で、神社の入り口にあります。
精神的に清められ、神聖な神社へと進むのです。
